God whispers creativity is a gift from God.

Are you a creative person? Definition of creativity is the use of imagination or original ideas, especially in artistic work.

One of the most creative people that I knew was my Grandma Johnson. Her talents were endless; she was the best cook and seamstress.

Grandma would look at a dress and create a pattern. She made my mother’s graduation dress from the flour sack. In addition to sewing clothes, she was a quilter. She taught me how to sew when I was about ten years old.

Did I mention that she was an excellent cook? She made a chocolate pie that had medicinal properties. She used to make me a seven-layered coconut cake. Grandma made the best-fried chicken and catfish. I would be remiss if I forgot her cinnamon rolls.

We all have talents, and some of us are more creative than others. Creativity is from God. In addition to skills that we use creatively, we are given spiritual gifts.

Spiritual Gifts

We first see creativity in the Old Testament where Moses utilized a certain man to build the tabernacle, which was gifted from God. Read with me these verses,

the Lord hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;

And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship; 

And to devise curious works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,

 And in the cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of wood, to make any manner of cunning work. Exodus 35: 30b-34

In addition to talents, the Apostle Paul speaks of our spiritual gifts. Beloved, what is your spiritual gift?

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

But all these worketh that one and the self same Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 1 Corinthians 12: 8-12. KJV. 

Our talents and gifts are from God. How are you using your skills for God?

Conclusion

Grandma taught me to quilt, sew, and cook.  We all are creative? Some of us are very creative. Our gifts come from God. My spiritual gifts are different from the things I like to do that use my creativity. But I can interface the talents. For example, I am an encourager, so I could make a card and send it to someone. Oh, I did that today.
