The Ultimate Gift

Who doesn’t like to receive a gift? Who doesn’t like to give a gift?

I think my husband is the hardest to buy a gift. However, just a couple months from now we celebrate the Christmas season and this time brings frenzy to many.

Gift

Scripture

Psalm 68

Thoughts

The word gift is in the Bible 106 times. But because this is a unique journey through the Psalms, let’s consider a verse in the Psalms.

Many of the Psalms specifically anticipate the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, the One and Only Son of God, the Anointed One. Psalm 68 is a prophetic Psalm.

Read with me this verse in the Psalm.

Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them. Psalm 68:18.

We see this prophecy fulfilled in gospel of Mark.

So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. Mark 16:39.

Jesus is in the Old Testament, He was with God at creation. He is God, God the Son and is responsible for our salvation. He in the perfect gift. He is the gift that keeps on giving. He gave His life for our sins. He is the Lamb of God, the perfect sacrifice. He who knew no sin became the sin offering so that you and I might have eternal life.

Read with me in 2 Corinthians.

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. 2 Corinthians 9:15.

Beloved, if you know anything about me at all is that God is good all the time and all the time God is good. He gave us the most beautiful gift, His Son.

Jesus is the perfect gift. He is the way, the truth, and the life. There is no way to God except through His Son. This is not a popular stance. But it is what I believe.

Conclusion

Even though my husband is hard to buy for soon I will be shopping for that perfect gift. Will you read Psalm 68 today and will you thank God that Jesus the Perfect Gift is at the right hand of God.

Father God, thank you for the gift of Jesus. Thank you that He is my Lord and Savior. Thank You for Your Love and Redemption through Jesus Christ.
