Three reasons why being more patient is complicated for a believer
Beloved, do you struggle with being patient? I have heard patience is a virtue. However, it seems when I have prayed for patience, I am less patient.
The definition of patient in this blog is to accept or tolerate delays, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious. The word patient is in the bible fourteen times. Yesterday, we discussed praying without ceasing, today as we look at Romans 12:12, “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer.”
Three reasons being more patient can be complicated for us: we are impatient people, want instant fixes, and are always in a hurry.
The above verse says, rejoice in hope; how does one do that? Beloved, we have to have confidence in the Lord that He will work things out according to His will for those of us He calls.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28. KJV.
I’ve been guilty of wanting the instant fix. But our verse says to be patient in tribulation. So what might you be in God’s waiting room? Perhaps you are struggling with your finances, or you struggle with chronic pain, or you are in a problematic relationship.
The answer is prayer. We can be more intentional in our relationships, finances, and problems when we pray about the concerns.
Father God, I can trust you with every detail of my life. I can be patient and wait for the answer to my prayers. In Jesus’s name, amen.
What situation is God asking you to be more patient and trust Him?
