Three ways to feel content with your life.
Beloved, are you content? In this series, we are going to look at 31 Glimpses of God’s Beauty. A form of the word content is in the Bible twenty times. Content’s definition is a state of peaceful happiness or satisfaction.
So, what brings you happiness? Are you content with your life?
Happiness
Beloved, much can be said for happiness and contentment? It is a feeling deep in your soul. But, according to Marguerite Gardner, we can be content with little. The Apostle Paul was pleased in his life.
“For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10 ESV.
So, three ways to feel content
- Read God’s Word
- Pray
- Admire God’s Creation daily.
Reading God’s love letter to us the Bible is one way to feel content. Another way is to pray. I write my prayers to God. Lastly, when we glimpse at the beauty of God, we can feel His love and feel contentment.

Conclusion
Have you ever heard that saying, “Happiness is overrated?” I am of the persuasion that where ever we are in life, we can be happy. But we must choose to put one foot in front of the other, be satisfied with where we are, and trust God with every fiber of our soul. Also, we need to watch our self-talk. Saying positive things can help with contentment.
The Apostle Paul states in Philippians 4:19, ” Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned to be content in whatever situation I am.”
But, unfortunately, this is sometimes very hard to do. So how do you practice being content?
One of the ways I find contentment is to reflect on answered prayer. Additionally, I can look at a sunrise, a sunset, a rainbow, a child, and see a glimpse of God, and this brings me contentment.
Father God, help me to be content in the situation I am experiencing. Help me to see beauty in your world. Help me to see the good in people. Please help me to embrace where I am in life. In Jesus’s name, amen.
What do you need to do today to feel content?
