Tomorrow
Five Minute Friday
Go.
While traveling a sign in Oklahoma perked my interest. I have never forgotten the sign, “Worry Is Sin In Disguise!!!” Beloved, do you worry? do you fret? do you ponder your words, do you replay conversations that you have had in your head, do you play the if only, what if, and the should haves?
The word of the day for Five Minute Friday is tomorrow. I can think of the song from the movie and play, Annie, Tomorrow
Just thinkin’ about tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow ’til there’s none
When I’m stuck with a day that’s grey and lonely
I just stick up my chin and grin and say, oh
The sun will come out tomorrow
So you gotta hang on
’til tomorrow, come what may!
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow
You’re always a day away!
When I’m stuck with a day that’s grey and lonely
I just stick up my chin and grin and say oh
The sun will come out tomorrow
So you got to hang on ’til tomorrow, come what may!
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you tomorrow
You’re only a day away
Tomorrow, tomorrow I love ya tomorrow
You’re only a day away …
However, my favorite song about tomorrow is Because He Lives.
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
Often in my day as a nurse there is the opportunity to share my faith about God’s love. God is good all the time, even when we are ill. I have quoted my version of Matthew 6 to many patients. Why are you worrying, if God takes care of the birds and give the flowers their clothes, will He not take care of you? Please take a few minutes and read this chapter of the Bible.
What fears are you holding on to? What are you worrying about? What do you need to leave behind today so tomorrow is a good day?
Father God, you say in your word that worrying does not help me at all, it just ties my stomach in knots, You promise to be with us today and tomorrow and You never change, You are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Lord, You did not give me a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. I know I do not need to worry about tomorrow because You are already there waiting for me. I love you Lord.

April 19, 2015 at 7:06 amSometimes there are things about our tomorrows that are so troubling and uncertain. I’ve been in a metaphorical place where the day after tomorrow is looking bright for sure, but tomorrow itself still contains a lot of hard work, a lot of uncertainty and many unknowns. It is more difficult to trust the Lord with uncertainty and unknowns when some of the possibilities are very troubling.
Trusting Him with our troubling unknowns is the point, though, isn’t it? That is exactly where He meets us with His strength, His peace, and His love.
Not long ago I took a little prayer that someone had posted on Facebook, printed it out, and taped it where I will see it all the time.
“Heavenly Father, Lately I’ve been so worried about things that are out of my control. Help me to trust that you are working out every little detail of my life, and that I have nothing to fear or worry about . In Jesus name, Amen.”
I am learning to pray that prayer, and to wait on Him for His guidance for the steps I need to take for each new day, each tomorrow. Looking back some day, His wonderful provision will be evident. I can’t wait to tell that story!
