My word for this year is TRUST. I have chosen a word over the last few years instead of making resolutions. Trusting God seems easy and I say I trust God but do I really? This child trusts her daddy and we can trust God.
“Trust and Obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.” I’ve sang this song since I was a child. Yet, do I believe God and trust Him.
Scripture
The word “trust” is in the Bible 170 times with perhaps the most famous verse in Proverbs 3.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3: 5-6
Thoughts
We will be doing a study with Proverbs31.org by Lysa TerKeurst called Trust Worthy. It is a study of 1 and 2 Kings. Lessons from the Kings. Join us at Proverbs31 as the study starts January 20, 2020.
When I received my copy of the book, I faced the fact that although I say I trust God, beloved do I really trust God.
Do I trust him with my finances, my health, my friends, my family? Do you know you need to write out the year 2020 on your checks so no one can commit fraud in the years to come with your checks? So much for trusting the world. Yet we can trust God.
First thing is the blessings we have they all belong to God so the questions I have God already knows about them. He sees me trying to solve the problem before I talk to Him. He is the giver of every good gift as it says in James.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”James 1: 17
So I decided to enlist God and ask Him to increase my faith this year 2020 and that my desire is to trust God with the outcome in my faith, family and friends.
Conclusion
Have you chosen a word for the year 2020, if so please share it with me in the comments.
Father God, trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy. Lord, I want above all to trust you with my family, and my friends. Let me be reminded of Your faithfulness to me and to those reading these words. In Jesus’ name, Amen
What does it mean to you to Trust God?
