Five minute Friday- A time to write for five minutes from the heart and then to connect with some amazing women.
Go.
When my boys were in grade school, these words were said often, “You won’t know you can’t do it unless you try!” Of course, the ad for Life Cereal was all about trying something you may not like, “What’s this stuff? “I am not going to try it!” You try it, give it to Mikey. he will eat anything.” Of course, Mikey loved the cereal.
The verse in Psalm 26:2 says,
“Test me, LORD, and try me, examine my heart and my mind.”
And who can forget Psalm 139: 23-24,
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Daily we have opportunities that are God opportunities. God is at work and He invites each one of us to join Him. In the morning when you rise and meet the day, will you call out to God and give Him the glory that is His. King David prayed and many of the Psalms written by him are his love letters or if you will his prayer journal. Will you pray with me? Ask God to try you and examine and see if there is any offensive way. Oh my, sometimes praying boldly evokes fear for what is hiding in my heart: this leads to confession but as I try and walk in faith not in a spirit of fear but of power, love and sound mind claiming 2 Timothy 1:7 then hope prevails. Try it you will like it.
Stop.

August 4, 2015 at 3:14 pmReally like the way you describe how “sometimes praying boldly evokes fear for what is hiding in my heart: this leads to confession”. It’s so messy yet so beautiful sometimes and it blows me away how much God loves us and still invites us in spite of ourselves.

August 4, 2015 at 4:56 pmI remember that commercial when I was a child. Loved it. I am thankful for a God who allows me to try new things, and is ever patient with me.
