Tuesday at Ten: Silent

“I believe that God is in me as the sun is in the color and fragrance of a flower – the Light in my darkness, the Voice in my silence.” ― Helen Keller

The word is this week for Tuesday at Ten is Silent.

I am reading Victory Over Darkness by Neil Anderson. In Chapter 5, he tells the story of Little Annie. We know her as Helen Keller, she was born in 1880 with the ability to hear and see but at 19 months of age, she became ill and it robbed her of her eye sight and hearing. Her teacher Anne Sullivan worked months for Helen to trust her. Helen’s world was silence but through learning to communicate the world was opened to her. Anne Sullivan believed that God could and would become real to Helen in her silence. Neil shares how God used Anne Sullivan to break the silence in her life, as God breaks the silence in our lives.

We have ears to hear, and eyes to see. The beauty of God’s creation. download (4)

” The Heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” Psalm 19:1

When I was in my teens, I loved the song, “Silence is Golden.”

I was in love with my high school sweetheart. My heart had been broken by someone else at the tender age of 15.  So I guarded my heart.

Silence is golden,
But my eyes still see.
Silence is golden, golden;
But my eyes still see.

 The song says that silence is golden but what is golden is to be SILENT before the Lord.

“BE Still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

There is someone that will never let us down. Someone that we can be silent before and yet we can share our deepest secrets and desires. Helen Keller in a totally silent world looked forward to a time when she would be with God in eternity so she could see her savior the Lord of her life. The apostle Paul said for me to live is good but for me to die is gain. Jesus said in John 14 that is he the way, the truth, and the life.

When we accept Christ as our Savior, we move from a silent world. A world of darkness and sin. Jesus was with God in Genesis.  Adam and Eve created in God’s image, they were both physically and spiritually alive. However, there was taunting from the angel of darkness. Satan convinced Eve to doubt God. We know about the choice, it ushered sin, separation and silence in the world. Adam and Eve now felt shame and had faulty thinking because they hid from an all knowing God. God went looking for Adam and Eve. The choice to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil brought spiritual death to Adam and Eve. Silence. Sin entered the world through one man and woman. Today, we are born physically alive but spiritually dead.  The last Adam was Jesus. He was born physically and spiritually alive. God planned redemption of man from silence through Jesus Christ.

“For by Him (Jesus Christ) all things were created things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones of powers of rulers or authorities, all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. . . For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in Him and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things whether on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood shed on the cross…But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.”  Colossians 1: 16, 17, 18, 19, 22.

JESUS IS LORD! Helen Keller was in a totally silent world yet Jesus was a Light in her darkness, the Voice in her silence.  Is He the light in your darkness the voice in your silence. if you do no know Jesus as Lord please contact me. I would love to share the good news with you that Jesus is LORD. Silence is golden when your world is filled with the love of God.

Father God, your word says be still and know I am God. When I am silent you are with me. I ask that you fill the silent moments with grace and love. I ask that when I am silent, you burst open my world with the splendor of your voice. Your word says that if the world is silent, that the rocks will cry out that you are God. Let me marvel in the beauty of your creation. For the heavens declare your Glory. Blessings.
