On June 24, 2014, I was at Disneyland with my son Dale, JoAnna his wife, Hunter and Sabrina
Hunter is nine and Sabrina is seven. I do not think that they ever stopped smiling. Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, that is what Disneyland says.
Yesterday we went to the San Diego County Fair. I saw my grandson Ethan, show his pig. Once again to his smile, made my day.
Grandchildren are such a blessing. I have many blessings in my life. “Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your many blessings, see what God has done.”
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.
What does it mean to let your mind dwell on these things? When we are sad, dwell on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely. When you are discouraged, think about the truth of God’s word, God’s word tells us the truth about ourselves. When we are lonely, think on these things.
Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always: again I will say rejoice. How many time have you said this verse by singing this song? When we rejoice in the Lord, whether we are in the rejoicing mood or not, God lifts our spirits. This verse is instructions from God to enjoy unexpected pleasures.
Unexpected pleasures come when we recognize God in all that we do. If we have invited God into our day, we will recognize these unexpected pleasures that happen in our day.
I am counting my blessings, are you?
What is a truth about you?
What can you praise God for this day?
How do you rejoice in the Lord?
Father God the truest thing about me is that I am your daughter. You tell me in Psalm 139, that you knew me in my mother’s womb. You say that I am fearfully and wonderfully made in that same Psalm. You tell us in Jeremiah to be strong and courageous and that when we seek God with all our hearts we will find him because you have plans for us plans to give us a hope and a future. Thanks you Lord for unexpected pleasures. In Jesus name, Amen
