Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12: 1-2. NIV.
Beloved, these two verses are so crucial for the Christian to unpack. First, because of God’s mercy, daily, we experience God’s mercy. Then from that mercy, we offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing to God, and this is our act of worship. Next, we are to not conform to the pattern of the world but be transformed by renewing our minds. How do we do this? We do it by praying and reading God’s Word. When we pray and read God’s Word, we can test and see what God’s will is, what his good, pleasing and perfect choice is for us.
We can not conform to this world. So we have to say no to the wrong things. Life can be difficult. Who am I kidding? Life is complicated. But we must live life with honor.
Father God, May I not be conformed but transformed by renewing my mind. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
