Unpacking 31 Verses To Live By- Day 27
‘
Beloved, our verse says to let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt. Before we had refrigeration, salt was used to preserve meats. So in unpacking this verse, let your conversation always be full of grace. Not sometimes full of grace but always full of grace. My mother taught me if you can not say something nice, do not say anything at all.
So what does it mean to be full of grace? It means to be pleasing. How can we be pleasing? I think it is a matter of being kind, the importance of offering praise instead of criticism, coaching instead of criticism, to give God your critical spirit.
Tomorrow, how can you practice this verse? Perhaps there is someone you can give a compliment to? Is there someone you can share some encouragement with? Or maybe you might witness and share the love of Jesus.
Blessing is ours when we encourage those around us. Sweet friend, this verse is a personal one that applies to how you speak to others. Whatever the day holds, let your speech be edifying.
Father God, thank you for your word and the words of encouragement that give us directions.
Who might you encourage today?
