“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1: 8
Beloved, I love the Bible. Since I was in Sunday School, I learned to do sword drills. Sword drills are a sweet memory and how I learned to find books like Joshua.
Let’s unpack these verses, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.” The Book of the Law was Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. To meditate was to think on the verses day and night. The prescription was twice a day, day and night. The promise was if you meditated on the Book of the Law day and night twice a day, one would be prosperous and successful.
Who does not want to be prosperous?
We are told to be strong and courageous; read with me.
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9.
The Israelites needed these promises as they moved into the promised land. They had been wandering in the desert for forty years.
