Unpacking 31 Verses To Live By -Day 8
Beloved, wisdom is a gift from God. Defining wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise. Wisdom is found in the Bible 235 times. King David’s son Solomon did not ask God for riches. He asked for wisdom.
To be wise is to make the best choice in a situation. In unpacking our verse today,
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5.
The verse says that if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God. How do we do that? We do this in prayer. James promises us that God gives to all knowledge liberally and without reproach. God does not withhold wisdom when we ask Him for learning in a specific situation. Solomon asked for wisdom, and we see the results in this verse.
And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore. 1 Kings 4:29
Sweet friend, have you ever whispered a prayer? Sometimes I call the prayer an arrow or 911 prayer. “Lord, give me wisdom in this situation!” Then God fantastically answers your prayer.
Don’t be fearful of asking for wisdom or patience. God does answer our prayers. James is an excellent book to read as a Christian. I continue my pursuit of being in God’s Word. Daily reading God’s Word, praying, and telling others about Jesus is my passion. What is yours?
Father God, give us wisdom. In Jesus’s name Amen
