Unwrapping the Names of Jesus- Day 12
Beloved, do you like to wrap packages? Today, imagine a box with beautiful wrapping paper and a bow. Then, let’s begin to unwrap the name of Jesus-Great High Priest.
When we think of a priest, we think of those in different denominations. However, the first priest in the Bible read with me.
Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. Genesis 14:18. NKJV.
Melchizedek is one of the mysteries of the Bible because Melchizedek is said to be a theophany of Jesus, the pre-incarnate Jesus Christ. The priest came from the Levitical line. Abraham’s son Issac has two sons, Jacob and Esau. Jacob travels to find a godly wife. He sees Rachel and love at first sight. Jacob thinks he is marrying Rachel but finds out that he married Leah–his father-in-law tricked him. So Jacob had two wives–Leah and Rachel. Leah has children; Rachel is barren, but Jacob loved Rachel more. So Lea struggled, but God rewarded her, and from this union–Jesus is promised. She has sons and the line of priest come from Levi, and Jesus comes from the child named Judah.
Jesus is our Great High Priest.
Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. Hebrews 2:17. NKJV.
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. Hebrews 4:14. NKJV.
called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,” Hebrews 5: 10. NKJV.
where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:20. NKJV.
For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, Hebrew 7:1. NKJV.
Nowhere in the Bible is more about Jesus and Melchizadek as “righteous king.” Jesus passed through the veil separating God and humanity and became for those of us who believe in Him a priest in the order of Melchizedek. Read with me the proof.

Jesus is Holy and Blameless, He is innocent, yet He was the perfect lamb that provides salvation for those who believe.
The mystery unfolds how God plans for the redemption of man through Jesus. Jesus technically could not be a priest because He was from the line of Judah, not Levi, but the law changed in Hebrews 7:12.
We see that Jesus fulfills the role of the priest in this verse, “Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.” Hebrews 9:11. NKJV.
Charles Swindoll says, “We are commanded to offer the sacrifice of love, one to another, just as our Great High Priest offered love to all when He sacrificed Himself.”
