Unwrapping the Names of Jesus -Day 3
Beloved, what is your favorite Christmas song? I love everything about Christmas, especially the holiday decorations. Those that decorate the outside of their houses always have my admiration. We have a Christmas tree at our house; we were in a 5th wheel last year.
Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season. In unwrapping the names of Jesus, Jesus is the Resurrection and The Life. Mary and Martha loved Jesus. They had a brother, Lazarus, and Lazarus became ill, and Mary and Martha sent for Jesus. Jesus delayed arriving until Lazarus died. We read this story in John 11,
Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. 3 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.”
4 When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was. John 11: 1-6.
Jesus uses this occasion to declare that Jesus is the resurrection and life.
With the season at hand, what are you struggling? Mary and Martha were working because Lazarus was sick and dying. Jesus cares for us just as he did for Mary and Martha.
This week is the first week of Advent. The first week is all about hope. Those who have asked Jesus to be our savior have hope because we know that we have eternal life. Because of Jesus’s resurrection, we have hope.
Will you write out John 11: 25?
One of my favorite songs is O Holy Night.
Father God, thank you for eternal life and that Jesus is the resurrection and life. In Jesus’s name, amen.
