Unwrapping the Names of Jesus-Day 7
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
Beloved, of all my treasured possession, is my daddy’s Bible. My earthly daddy loved God’s Word. So the Bible should be our most treasured possession. The Bible comprises sixty-six books divided into the Old Testament and The New Testament. Charles Swindoll recently preached on the book of Matthew, and he is now lecturing on how the disciples carried out the great commission.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Additionally, Pastor Swindoll shared this about the divisions of the Bible, and as we unwrap the names of Jesus, today we see that Jesus is the Word of God. Swindoll said, “The Old Testament looks to the birth of Jesus, the gospels look at the life of Jesus, the letters look back at Jesus, revelation looks toward Jesus’ reign and Satan’s defeat. Lastly, the book of Romans and Acts is the bridge to the Acts of how the commission was fulfilled.”
As names go, the Word of God is Jesus. First, he is God’s creative Word; he spoke the world into existence after all. Second, Jesus communicated God’s love–fulfilled God’s plan. Lastly, Jesus is the Final Word, and every knee will bow before the Word of God.
For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, Everykneeshallbow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.” Romans 14:11. KJV.
Just as my dad’s Bible means so much to me, God’s Word, the Bible means much more. Daily, I treasure God’s Word, and as I write and share with others, I reflect on the promises of God. I just realized that as I hide God’s Word in my heart, I am hiding Jesus in my heart because one of the names of Jesus is the Word of God.
How will you incorporate the Word of God into Your life? Will you memorize, write and read God’s Word?
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. Paslm 119:11. KJV.
