Unwrapping the Names of Jesus- Day 8
Beloved, as I drove home last night later than usual, I heard a song on Christian radio that had similar words to the music of “Jesus, Jesus, sweetest name I’ve heard.” However, the words were “Cherish the name of Jesus.”
Today as we open our package and unwrap the names of Jesus- Truth.
Perhaps the most profound verse and a stumbling block to many is John 14:6,
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6. KJV.
Sweeet friend, this verse is worth writing and memorizing. Shout it from the rooftops, cherish the name of Jesus as Truth. Not only is He Truth but Way and Life. Let these words permeate your inner mind and soul.
Why is this so important? As Chuck Swindol says, we live in a time of tolerance. Sin does not seem as bad, a lie can be a white lie, not as bad as a lie, or it can be a partial truth or one of omission. But beloved, a lie is still a lie. Jesus is the truth; He leads us into everlasting life.
John 14:6 is a verse that leaves no wiggle room. No “ifs, ands, or buts’ He is the truth. Swindoll says in his book Names of Jesus, “Truth corresponds to reality, and nothing is more true than God and His Word. And Jesus is the Word, Incarnate. Jesus embodies divine revelation as the trustworthy and salvific Word–the only teacher to reveal God fully.” Read with me John 1:1-4,
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.’ John 1:1-4. NKJV.
Do you realize that Pilate stared truth in the face of Jesus and asked Jesus, “What is truth?” This man was so full of deceit; Pilate couldn’t recognize fact staring back at him as we read in John 18:38.
Jesus is the only source of life in a world of tolerance, the only plumb line of truth in a world of lies, and the only proper way to God in a world of wrong. Every other path leads to destruction.
Will you embrace the truth? Will you commit to following Jesus?
Father God, thank you for your Son, the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus, thank you for being the perfect truth and sacrifice. Let me be a person that cherishes the name of Jesus as Truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
