Five-Minute Friday- A time to write for five minutes and then to link up with other writers.
The word this week is vacation.
Vacation, vacation, vacation was what I looked forward to every year when I was working. Time away from work determined by the amount of time you earned. But wait a minute, I am retired so every day is a vacation. We have driven across country twice this year. From Missouri to California and from California to Missouri and back to California. I live near the vacation capital of the world. Well, maybe that is my determination. I live close to San Diego, California. Just a drive down the hill from Ramona, where I live. However, I sometimes forget how close I am to San Diego and forfeit the joy of what is termed a stay at home vacation.
Do you think Jesus took a vacation? I do not think he took any time off but he did go to a wedding in Cana, we read in John 2 of this adventure. We read of his trip to Samaria where he met the woman at the well. All of this occurred during his work week. He tells us to take time, and rest so I think He would be happy for us when we are seeking rest through a vacation.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
Father God, thank you for time away. But let me never be far from you and your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen

July 7, 2018 at 7:59 amHi Diana! I too have looked forward to vacation over the years! Especially when I was working full time. I agree with your comment where you write that Jesus does want us to have periods of rest. Times where we pause and take a break from our busy lives and schedules.
