What do you think of when you think of the word above?
When was the first time you were on an airplane? One day when I was sixteen, Doug and I visited Glamis, a desert in California. While we were there, a stranger, yes a stranger, offered to give us a ride on his airplane. May I say I would not do that now, but then, I did not experience fear. So, up above the clouds, we went for that fantastic ride on the airplane.
Above
What do you think of when you think of the word above? I think of the heavens that are above us and the clouds and God. We often point towards the sky when expressing where God lives. However, God is omnipresent, and as hard as that is to understand, we think of Him when we look to the heavens above.
Our word today above is defined in ample space over and not touching, or at a higher level or layer. Above is in the Bible 222 times. With the thought of glimpsing at God’s Beauty, there is nothing more spectacular than the clouds that hover above us.
Trials
Yet, sometimes in life, we can encounter trials, our circumstances change, and we may wonder when our struggles will end? As Ashleigh Murray says, “Our circumstances do not define us, and we can always find a way to rise above it.”
So, how does one rise above our circumstances? May I be so bold as to say we have to trust God with our events? So often struggling with my health, yet I put one foot in front of the other. Perhaps you are estranged from a loved one, or you have more months than money, God cares, and we can trust the outcome to Him.

What does trusting God mean to you? Read with me a recipe from God’s Word in Deuteronomy.
“You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.” Deuteronomy 13:4.
Beloved, daily we can walk with the Lord, commune with Him through prayer, read His Words keeping His commandments, and obey His voice, and yes, we can hold fast to Him as we serve Him.
“Let them praise the name of the Lord, For His name alone is exalted; His glory isabove the earth and heaven.” Psalm 148:13.
Trust
Yes, I lived to tell the story of when I went above in an airplane with a stranger, the clouds above declare our God.
Father God, You are above all other gods. You alone are worthy of our praise. Therefore, we stand and declare that we can trust you with our circumstances and that You are with us daily as we put one foot in front of the other to rise above our struggles.
What struggles do you need to rise above?
