This morning the air was crisp, the room was quiet and as I spend time with the Lord focusing on prayer, today I hope to share on prayer some verses, thoughts, and quotes that God whispered in my heart.  The first one is Psalm 46: 10 “Be still and know I am God.

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. Luke 18:1

And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Luke 18: 7

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Mark 1:35

Beloved, Jesus found time, made time, and needed time to be alone with his Heavenly Father. He asks the disciples to pray with him and for him. Yet, we see their failure in this powerful prayer in the Garden of  Gethsemane. Do we make time to pray?

And He went a little beyond them, and fell to the ground and began to pray that if it were possible, the hour might pass Him by. And He was saying, “Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will.”And He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour?

Beloved, is Jesus saying, _________, are you asleep? ________, did you rush off to work without praying this morning? _________, could you not pray for one hour?

Praying God’s word is an amazing way to not only be in God’s word but to learn God’s word. Here are two of the Apostle’s Paul’s prayers.

For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms…. Ephesians 1: 15-20

4For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. 20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3: 14-21

Lastly, Beloved the recipe for prayer is  praise, admitting any wrongs, requests, and thanks.  We just need to pray. Perhaps instead of hitting the snooze we can pray those 15 minutes, perhaps we can pray on our lunch breaks, how about a prayer walk, turn off the television and pray at night. Whisper a prayer in the morning, Whisper a prayer at noon, Whisper a prayer in the evening to keep your heart in tune.  God answers prayer!  Remember prayer is portable even at a red light.
