Valentine’s Day
Expectations greet the day.
A day to say I Love you.
Will there be a card to say the deep thoughts that often go unsaid?
Will you be my Valentine?
Will you love me deeply unconditionally?
Will you be my Valentine?
Will you care for my feelings and protect me even if you do not always agree with me?
Will you be my Valentine?
Valentine’s Day a day of romance, flowers, cards, Hallmark commercials, and my favorite romantic movies. I am an incurable romantic. Yesterday I watched the Hallmark channel most of the day. Beloved, can you relate to several disappointments related to Valentine’s Day? Most disappointments relate to my expectations. Funny thing about expectations, one needs to relay what one is expecting instead of hoping the other person is a mind reader. How can we honestly be disappointed if the other person does not know what we are expecting?
The verses speaking to me this week are Matthew 22: 37-39
Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
Today, my husband loaded up our fifth wheel and we are here at Santee Lakes. We have a week away just the two of us. Tonight we will listen to some oldies because we are camping and no TV until tomorrow. (I know TV and camping.) I am choosing to listen to the whispers of God and not make a big deal out of a man-made holiday. We have the real deal, Jesus. He is the real Valentine.
Sorry for rambling, if you are new in your marriage or relationship, honor one another. If you are old in your relationship, keep a short list of wrongs and honor one another. Forgive, forgive, forgive.
If you are single, Valentine’s Day may not have happy memories but I would like to challenge you to forgive and let go today. You may need to revisit those memories, forgive the offender and the offense and let go of the hurt and the pain. From this year forward, remember John 3:16 spells Valentine. God will be your Valentine until he brings someone else in your life. Oops! God will always be your Valentine.
For me, He is my Valentine. He will never leave me or forsakes me. I am His child. I am His beloved and He is mine, His banner over me is love.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Beloved, is there someone you need to forgive? Do you need to forgive your husband for unmet expectations? Do you know Jesus in the free pardon of sin? if you would like more information on Jesus becoming your Savior please contact me at blessingsrockwell@gmail.com.
Father God, we love you because you first loved us. We would not even know what love is without your love. You knew we would need a savior and you gave us your Son. The gift you gave because we sinned. Your word says in Psalm 139 that your thoughts of us are as many as the sand on the seashore every single day and that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Your word tells us that we are to love our neighbors as ourselves and that would mean our spouses. You gave us the right to marry and sometimes our marriages have given us many struggles but we are asking today Lord that we trust you more than ever with our marriages. Let us come to you with our feelings. You make us complete, you make us whole, you confirm us. Heal our mates’ hearts so they can love us with the love that Christ showed the church. Father God, thank you for Jesus, being our Valentine. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you know you have sinned and you believe Jesus is God’s son and that He died on the cross and rose again conquering death and is at the right hand of God and He gives you eternal life, and you prayed to receive Jesus. I would love to send you a Bible. Please contact me.

February 14, 2016 at 7:42 pmI’ve seen this powerful 3:16 graphic on social media and I saved a copy. May we look to Jesus as the standard for loving others. Blessings and enjoy your time away!
