God’s Attributes

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.'” Exodus 3:14

Louie Giglio writes a beautiful book, I AM Not But I Know I Am. He shares, “One of the most gripping scenes in Scripture is the account where God meets Moses at the burning bush. God calls Moses by name and at Moses’s request, God reveals His name to us for the very first time. I AM WHO I AM.”  Louie writes that God exists. God is. God has been, He is in this moment as you are reading this blog, He is with me as I type, and He always will be GOD.

David Jeremiah in The Jeremiah Study Bible on page 78, “When God said, I AM WHO I AM, He declared that His eternal, unchanging, uncreated self-existence. The identification of the Lord as God of your fathers is enormously important. Moses and the Hebrew people needed to know that this was no “new God.” He is the Deliverer of Israel. God asked Moses to join Him in His plan of delivering the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.

Beloved, as Louie says in this book, if God is I AM, then beloved I am not. We are not God. Mr Giglion says, “We do not need to put ourselves down, but rather to embrace the fact we have already achieved the greatest heights because we know I AM. Do you have big dreams and giant goals? We do not have to sacrifice our dreams and goals because knowing the I AM inspires each to excel in every area of life. We have been invited into a personal relationship with the infinite I AM WHO I AM. What can we ever gain or accomplish that could compete with knowing the Maker and Sustainer of the world on a first-name basis? What on our resume eclipses the fact that we walk with God.”

Celebrate today that Yahweh is personally involved with each of us. Will you grasp hold of the hand of God? Will you embrace the fact that God is holding your hand. He has you tightly in His grasp.

Today, I was with my dad and we visited a musician friend of His. His name is Craig Stuke. Amazingly, he sang and invited my dad and I to join him sing.  Rock of Ages, I’ve Got A Mansion Just Over The Hill Top, Great Is His Faithfulness, I Come To The Garden Alone, and Peace in The Valley. Beloved, we sang for the I AM, The Great I AM, Yahweh.
