Breaking Free From The Past
Does the old cliché “time heals” ring true in your life? Tracie powerfully shares in Chapter 4 that despite years passing by her heart was still broken over her choice and bound by shame. Despite blessings, she still believed she was undeserving of God’s love and mercy. She had not heard God’s voice, she was in a state of spiritually starvation.
I am a nurse and I have twenty plus years of home health experience. I have dressed many wounds in my career and a wound has to heal from the inside. It can not heal on the outside first or it will fester and break open. To heal a wound that is a deep wound does take time.
Tracie’s heart needed spiritual surgery or some serious debridement. A retreat provided the right speaker with the right story to pierce through the spiritual blinders and darkness of the lies she was believing. The basic lie was she was unworthy. The inner battle was great, Tracie states, “I had become a master of disguise. I had learned how to hold it together on the outside even when I was falling apart on the inside. I had learned to put a smile on my face, even when my heart was crying. I wasn’t ready to shed the mask.”
That day Tracie pleaded with God for his forgiveness. She had asked for forgiveness before but did not believe God forgave her?
“God touched me, I felt his presence, I knew He was there. This time, with God’s power and mercy overwhelming my heart, I actually believed God forgave me.” Tracie Miles pg 55
“I knew I was cleansed as white as snow, just like the old hymn…”Tracie Miles, pg 56.
Jesus paid it all
All to him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Her story. Maxine Young lives in Queens New York. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. This chronic illness brought doubt and fear into her life. She was called to write for Jesus. She wrote an e-book, Waiting For The Doctor, Trusting God In Your Waiting Times.
I can relate to Maxine as I have suffered with chronic health issues since 1977 when I started with migraines. I have suffered with chronic pain headaches, backaches and knee pain. Currently because of my weight loss, my back and knee pain is so much better.
Tracie had a hard time being in a church service or at a seminar when the word “abortion” was spoken, do you have ‘one word?’ Will you take that one word and give it to Jesus?
Father God, thank you for calling Tracie to write this book and for giving her the courage to share her story. Thank you that Maxine Young writes a newsletter for the chronically ill person. Lord for the woman who is still hearing that one word and cringing will you send your love and help her to accept forgiveness. Lord for the person who is struggling with forgiving herself, would you help her recognize 1 John 1:9 with confession You are faithful and just to forgive her of her sins.
Jesus paid it all
All to him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Please share your take away from Chapter 4. Blessings Diana

January 10, 2015 at 5:49 pmSuffering from chronic pain, I could relate somewhat to this. Part of it is my fault, with the weight (once I start losing weight, other health problems may be resolved). But I now know that God can still use me no matter what condition my body is in or anything that has happened in my past. Thank God and praise Him, for He is good all the time. God bless you my friend.
